Some afternoons need a plan B, and ours is the indoor play barn — a covered, heated, parent-approved arena where the under-elevens can wear themselves out and the grown-ups can get to the bottom of a coffee. Soft play structures, ball pit, climbing frame and a separate area for the smallest visitors.

It’s right in the middle of the park, a couple of minutes from the bar (which has a good view of the door, in case you fancy reading the paper). No pre-booking, no time limit. Bring socks.
