Some breaks need an itinerary. Ours doesn’t.

We’ll set you up in a self-catering holiday home in the woods between three lochs, hand you the keys, and point you at the heated pool, the horse paddock, the fishing pegs, the kayaks and the kids’ play barn. The rest is up to you.

Some guests don’t leave their self-catering holiday home until day three. Others wear the place out before the kettle’s cooled. Both are good holidays.

Nine Reasons You Won’t Need the Car Keys

All on-site. None of the half-hour-each-way driving that ruins a day. (And one of them, since 2025, is a giant inflatable obstacle course on the loch.)

Three Lochs sits inside a thousand-and-a-bit acres of wooded countryside near Newton Stewart, deep in Wigtownshire. The drive’s easy from Glasgow, Carlisle and the Cairnryan ferry, but the postcards stop at Loch Lomond — most of the people up here live here.

Beyond the gates: Galloway Forest Park, the Machars peninsula, the village book town of Wigtown, and the long, empty Solway coast.

How do I book a self-catering holiday home?

Get in touch with our team directly and we'll get you sorted. Head to our contact page and we'll check availability and confirm your dates.

What's the minimum stay?

Most stays are two nights minimum. School holidays usually run as full weeks (Friday or Monday changeover). Longer breaks always welcome.

What's included in the self-catering holiday home?

Linen, kitchenware, Wi-Fi, heating, decking and a welcome basket. Bring food, walking boots and whoever you're bringing — the rest is on us.

Are dogs welcome?

Yes — every self-catering holiday home welcomes well-behaved dogs. There's a small dog charge per stay, and we ask a few simple ground rules. Full detail on /holiday-rentals/dog-friendly-holidays/

Do I need to book the facilities?

Most are walk-up — pool, play barn, fishing pegs, walking trails. Horse trekking, watersports lessons and clay pigeon shooting need a slot booking, which you can do at reception or in advance.
